Pharmacy First is growing: 5 prescriber-led conditions
On 10 September 2026 NHS England announced that Pharmacy First will be extended this autumn so that pharmacist independent prescribers can assess and prescribe for 5 more conditions. At Timperley Late Night Pharmacy that prescriber is Muhammad Adnan, whose independent-prescriber annotation is on the GPhC public register.
The detailed NHS eligibility criteria have not yet been published. Until they are, the pages here explain what has been announced and what a consultation will involve. A consultation will not always end in a prescription.
What has been announced
- Outer ear infection (otitis externa) — Adults 18 and over
- Hay fever in children — Children aged 4 to 11
- Acne (mild to moderate) — Young people and adults (exact ages to be confirmed by NHS England)
- Migraine (low-frequency episodic) — Adults aged 18 to 64
- Mild skin infections and scabies — Age range to be confirmed by NHS England
